Door Bell Safety

Tips Logo You are home alone and the door rings. You might be home from work sick or just taking the day off. Are you sure you know what to do next? Do you open the door to greet a stranger or do you remain quiet and wait for the person to just leave? Every day our security consultants are in homes doing security evaluations and it is not unusual for homeowners to not understand what to do when the door bell rings. One of the important things to remember here is that, in most cases, before a criminal breaks into a home, he will most likely ring the door bell to make sure there is no one home. If no one responds to the door bell he is likely to assume no one is home and proceed to enter the home. As you can see this could be a very dangerous situation.

Here are a few door bell safety tips:

Ask “Who is it?”

Never say, “I am home alone.”

Never open the door to a stranger

If you are a female home alone speak thru the door and tell the stranger that your husband is busy right now.

If you are a child home alone speak thru the door and tell the stranger that your daddy is busy right now.

Always answer the door by speaking thru the door.

Install a see thru “peep hole” in the door so you can observe what is going on at your front door.

If the person does not leave press the police panic button on your alarm system key pad or dial 911.

South Florida News

In 2008 we completed Park Colony, a fifteen building apartment complex. We installed fire alarm systems in each of the buildings that communicate through fire alarm radios to our central station.

2009 kicked off with the start of a US Customs and Border Patrol Facility. We are installing a fifty-three reader access control system, a fourty-two camera surveillance system, a security system integrated with the access system, an intercom system and an emergency panic system.

April Perkins, Service Coordinator, is on maternity leave after giving birth to a baby girl. Congratulations April!

Awards

Tips Logo In recent months Certified Security & Surveillance has recieved five different awards. We recieved the awards this past November at the annual Honeywell/First Alert Convention in Orlando, Florida. We are the authorized Honeywell/First Alert alarm dealer in the northeast Florida area and for one company to recieve this much national recognition is really amazing, considering there are hundreds of dealers nationwide.

We won the Marketing Excellence Award for our creative marketing programs. The Life Safety Award was given to us for our commitment to teach families about the dangers of house fires. Russ Ackerman, Director of Sales and Marketing, won the Sales Manager of the Year Award. We won the Circle of Excellence Award for our outstanding customer service. (No alarm company our size has as high a rating with the Better Business Bureau as we do.) The final award was the Community Service Award. This past year we teamed up with the National Crime Prevention Council and sponsored a Child Safety Fun Fair. We fingerprinted hundreds of children and gave the parents valuable information about internet safety for kids.

We are very proud of our achievements this past year and we pride ourselves in being much more than just an alarm company. We are a life safety company!
